Kimberling City: Despite the rain earlier in the week the bite hasn't changed much. There is still a really good deep bite for spotted bass on gravel flats and points 22' to 28' deep. Look for fish holding tight to the bottom and drop Chompers, ROBO or Tightlines worms on a drop shot rig to the bottom. Most of the fish will come up as they strike the bait so pay close attention to your line. There is a Jewel football or spider jig bite in the mid lake as well; most of the fish are holding tight to wood or rock cover on gravel points 15' – 20' deep.
James River: The shallow bite fell off over the past week on the James River. The better bite has been in brush piles 12' – 18' deep on gravel and mixed gravel / rock points. Jewel football jigs in brown purple flash or PBJ have been the best options either color matched with a J Tail or Chompers twin tail grub. Work the jig thoroughly through the wood cover from a couple of angles to draw strikes. The deep crank bait bite has been hit or miss at best with a few fish each day coming on DD 22's and 6XD crank baits on rock and wood cover near drop offs.
White River: The White River has remained consistent over the past week; there is still a strong deep bite, the football jig and big worm bite has started to produce better fish and the best early and late topwater bite is around Campbell Point. Just like the mid lake drop shot rigs on gravel points and flats is producing some very nice spotted bass. Largemouth have been coming out of brush piles 10' – 20' deep on Jewel Jigs and Chompers 8" worms. During low light a spook or Sammy cast toward schooling fish will produce a mixed bag of smallmouth, largemouth and spots.
Dam Area: Deep fishing is still the dominate pattern on the lower end of the lake. Drop shot rigged Chompers, ROBO and Tightlines worms worked from 25' – 35' deep on the bottom are out producing just about every other technique. Early in the day there have been several schools of whitebass running shad on flats throughout eh lower end. Cast Webb Tail spoons into the may lay to draw strikes once the surface activity subsides allow the spoon to sink to around 15' to draw more strikes.
