Branson: Fishing guides are still having success fishing deep sides of gravel points on the main lake and in larger creel arms. Most of the fish have been 25' – 35' deep holding tight to the bottom. Drop shot rigged Chompers, Tightlines UV and ROBO worms have been the best option, drop them to the bottom once fish are found on electronics. The Long Creek area has begun to produce better quality fish on a Jewel football jig, look for fish to be holding in and around deep brush piles on main lake gravel points.
Kimberling City: The deep bite continues to produce well in the mid lake area just like in Branson. Fishing guides are having success on the same presentations with a slight wrinkle. Several fish this past week have been caught suspended in schools of shad a little further off shore. Look for shad suspended from 20' – 40' deep over any depth of water, schools of Spotted Bass have been using the bait as cover and feeding on them throughout the day. Drop shot rigged Chompers, Tightlines and ROBO worms have been working well when the fish are holding deeper. A swimbait or Webb Tail spoon has been effective when fish are feeding on the school.
James River: Limited rainfall is producing little if any current on the James River. The lack of current has kept the bite tougher here than in the mid lake or Branson. Fishing guides have had some success targeting brush and rock piles on the main lake near deep water. Look for cover to be 12' – 20' deep and throw Jewel Football jigs and 8" – 12" Chompers or Tightlines worms into the brush from several angles to draw strikes. Further downstream around Aunts Creek the drop shot bite has been very good. Look for the same deep roll offs to be holding most of the fish. A Webb Tail Spoon has begun to produce around the larger docks on the lower end of the James as well. Look for docks over 30' deep to be the most productive.
White River: There is still a strong topwater bite in the mid White River area. From Campbell point to Big M fish have been coming up during low light hours and hitting a variety of topwater lures. Sammies, spooks and pop-r's have been the most popular baits, be sure to be on the water as the sun rises and sets to be successful. Once the top water bite ends Jewel football jigs and Carolina rigged creatures have been the ticket. Work either presentation slowly along the bottom on gravel points and flats to be successful. If you discover a brush or rock pile make sure to work it from all angles.
