Branson: Cooler, shorter days have resulted in falling water temperatures throughout the lake including in Branson. Fishing guides are reporting surface temps hovering around the 60 degree mark. There are still groups of fish holding shallow on mixed gravel and rock points and pockets on the lower end. Tightlines UV and Chompers tubes have been effective targeting these shallow fish. There are schools of shad showing up in deeper water as well; the middle of larger creek arms are holding shad and in turn schools of Spotted Bass. Webb tail spoons and drop shot rigged Tightlines and Chompers worms have been effective from 25' – 40' deep over as much as 80' of water.

Kimberling City: The mid lake area has a strong shallow bite primarily on windy and cloudy days. Gravel and rock mixed points have been producing with Storm Wiggle Warts and Chompers spinnerbaits. Some type of wood cover helps this bite and without wind the fish have been reluctant to strike. Large community and resort docks have been producing fish as well; Jewel Eakins and Pro Spider jigs pitched to the center walkway will produce better fish. Natural brown and green colors have been top producers and a trailer with a little action seems to be more effective than a craw.

James River: The cooler colored water of the James River has kept fish shallower than the rest of the lake. Shallow gravel pockets off the main lake have been productive with better fish moving up and holding around wood cover. On windy days shallow crankbaits and spinnerbaits have been the most effective techniques. Work baits as close to cover as possible to draw strikes waiting to ambush prey. On calm days these same areas will produce with Jewel jigs and Squirrel heads. Match the squirrel head with a Tightlines UV finesse worm and work it slowly through the cover to draw strikes.

White River: The White River remains the most diverse area on the lake. Just like in Branson fishing guides have been having success fishing shallow with Tightlines and Chompers Tubes on mixed gravel and rock points and pockets. There is also a decent deep bite shaping up in the middle of larger creeks; look for schools of shad suspended around tree tops and work Webb Tail Spoons and drop shot rigs in and around the trees to draw strikes. On windy days there has been a very good crankbait bite on ledge rock points; parallel points with wiggle warts and Bandit 300 crankbaits.
