Branson: Bass are moving into established winter patterns all over the lake including Branson. Fishing guides are finding fish holding deeper than they have in recent weeks and jigs, jerkbaits and drop shot rigs have become the dominate patterns. SPRO McStick and Megabass jerkbaits have been the lures of choice for those looking for better fish. Isolated timber on steep rocky banks has been the best locations. Jewel 5/8 oz. football jigs in brown purple flash and watermelon candy with Tightlines jig trailers have been very effective around drop offs both on the main lake and in larger creek arms. Large schools of spotted bass have been following schools of shad in the creek arms as well, watch for birds to key in on shad locations.

Kimberling City: The shallow bite has waned some over the past week, while there are still fish being caught shallow the better bite is away from the bank around 15' deep. Much like in Branson fishing guides have been using SPRO and Megabass jerkbaits to draw fish out of isolated trees on steeper banks. Allow the bait to pause between five and ten seconds between jerks to draw strikes. The Jewel football jig bite is very good in the mid lake as well; drop offs near transition banks seem to be holding the bulk of the fish. Pay close attention as the jig is falling as most strikes are nothing more than a spongy feeling.

James River: The water is coolest in the James River right now and most of the fish have moved to steeper banks where they can make shallow to deep moves with little effort. Jewel football jigs in brown purple flash with a green pumpkin Tightlines jig trailer have been very effective around wood cover on steep banks. Look for cover that is around ten feet deep to be the most productive. SPRO and Megabass jerkbaits have been working in the James as well; isolated cedar trees have been holding most of the fish. As the sun warms the water in the afternoon fish have been moving shallower, look for banks that have direct sunlight for most of the day and key on any isolated piece of cover you can find.

White River: The White River is still the most diverse fishery on the lake. Fish can be caught less than ten feet deep all the way out to 60' deep depending on how you want to fish for them. There are very large schools f spotted bass with a few smallmouth and largemouth mixed in hanging around schools of shad from Baxter to above Big M. Let birds show you where the shad are the fish will be close by. Umbrella rigs have been making an impact in this area as well; steep banks and points with timber have been holding most of the fish. Cast to the bank and retrieve the rig maintaining a depth just above the tree tops to draw strikes. Jewel football jigs have really shined in the White River; look at channel swing drop offs to be holding most of the fish and work PB&J or watermelon candy 5/8 oz. jigs to the shallows and work the down the break to draw strikes.
