Branson: The brief return of winter has driven water temperatures slightly lower across the lake including in Branson. Fishing guides continue to find the bulk of the fish holding relatively shallow for this time of year with the majority being caught in 20' or less. The same three patterns continue to be successful; stickbaits, crankbaits and jigs are really the only baits you need on the lower end. SPRO and Megabass stickbaits, wiggle warts and Jewel Pro Spider or football jigs will all put fish in the boat on rocky and mixed rock and gravel points throughout the lower end.

Kimberling City: The shallow bite is still king in the Kimberling City area with the same patterns working here as in Branson. Fishing guides have also added swimming grubs and umbrella rigs to the mix to draw a few more strikes. Chompers and Tightlines UV single tail grubs in anything that resembles a shad have been effective particularly on cloudy and windy days. Gravel and mixed gravel and rock points on the main lake with wind hitting them have been the best locations to throw a grub, fish it on a ¼ oz. head and count it down to around 10' to be successful.

James River: Umbrella rigs have been the dominate choice on the James River, Tight Lines UV Big Jerk in white or black back have been the best colors on the rig. Look for isolated tree tops topping out around 15' – 20' deep on points near deeper water to be the best locations. Work the rig as close to the tree top as possible to draw strikes from waiting bass. Stickbaits, wiggle warts and Jewel jigs are also effective in the James, but the quality is much great on an Umbrella rig right now.

White River: Branson fishing guides are still doing extremely well in the Kings River with Wiggle Warts and Bandit 300 crankbaits. Look for transition areas on channel swing banks to be the most productive areas; parallel banks from 2' – 10' deep running the bait into as much cover as possible to draw strikes. On the White River stickbaits and Jewel jigs have been more effective. Look for mixed rock and gravel banks and points to hold most of the fish, the best bite has been around isolated timber from 10' – 20' deep.
