Branson: Fishing guides are still catching a few fish early and late on top water baits; Sammies spooks and pop-r's are catching most of the fish, look for surfacing fish on flats and flat points throughout Branson. Fishing guides have started to see fish moving into deep water, drop shot rigs with Tightlines UV finesse worms or Chompers cut tail worms have been the most productive way to target these bass. Look for spotted bass holding tight to the bottom from 23' – 30' deep.
Kimberling City: The topwater bite has tapered off in the Kimberling City area just like in Branson. Fishing guides have been doing well with Jewel 3/8 oz. football jigs and 7/16 oz. Pro Spider jigs. Green pumpkin candy and PB&J have been the best colors when matched with a green pumpkin J-Tail or UV Green Jig trailer. Work both baits from 10' – 25' deep along the bottom on mixed gravel and rock points. There is a good drop shot bite beginning to develop in the mid lake as well, the same pattern working in Branson is effective here.
James River: The best top water bite on the lake is on the James River right now, in addition to Sammies, spooks and pop-r's , a buzz bait can be lights out early and late. Look for flooded brush on flats and flat points to be the most productive areas to throw a buzz bait. Once the sun comes up a switch to a Carolina rigged UV hog in UV green red flake and work drop off areas around main lake points. A few fish have started to be caught by Branson fishing guides on shallow crankbaits around flooded wood cover, cast RC crankbaits around stumps and other wood in less than 4' of water to draw strikes.
White River: There is still a strong top water bite from Baxter to Shell Knob; look for fish on shallow main lake flats and flats in larger creek arms. Sammies, spooks and pop-r's have been the best baits. Jewel football and spider jigs have been very productive as well; look for mixed rock and gravel points to be holding most of the fish. Deep fish are starting to show up in the White river as well; drop shot rigged Tightlines finesse worms have been the ticket from 20' – 35' deep holding tight to the bottom on gravel points and flats.
