Branson: Fishing guides are still finding top water fish early and late as the sun comes up and goes down but both bites are short lived. Watch for fish surfacing on flat gravel points fairly close to the bank and throw spooks, Sammies and pop-r's to surfacing fish. Once the sun comes up switch to Jewel Squirrel heads with Tightlines UV finesse worms in UV green and UV green / Red Flake work the baits slowly along the bottom from 8' – 15' deep. Once the shallow bite dies off move out to 25' – 35' deep and drop shot the same UV worms close to the bottom.
Kimberling City: There is a still an early morning topwater bite in the Kimberling City area just like in Branson. Fishing guides have been targeting fish chasing shad shallow on gravel flats and around larger community boat docks. Tightlines UV tubes have been productive once the sun comes up, UV green tubes on a ¼ Jewel speed loader head has been tough to beat from 10' – 15' deep on these same gravel points.
James River: Branson fishing guides have been doing well this week targeting shallow fish on the James River; recent rains have brought a lot of color into the lake and kept fish shallow. RC 1.5 and other shallow crankbaits have been very effective around wood cover on flat banks from Aunts Creek to Flat Creek, run the bait into the cover to draw strikes from fish holding in the shade of the cover. There is also a strong flipping bite starting to shape up as well, Jewel 9/16 finesse flippin' jigs in black / blue flash and Missouri craw with a black / blue UV jig trailer has been very effective around laydowns and other shallow wood cover.
White River: The topwater bite remains strong for the first few hours of the day from Baxter to above Shell Knob. Branson fishing guides have been keying on main lake gravel points with deep water close by to find the best bite. Watch for fish chasing shad and cast spooks, Sammies and Pop-r's in front of the schooling fish to draw strikes. Just like in Branson, fishing guides will move out once the sun comes up and cast Jewel Squirrel heads with Tightlines UV finesse worms from 8' – 15' deep to continue to draw strikes.
