Branson: Fishing guides are still targeting fish in both shallow and deep water throughout the lower end of the lake. The shallow bite has been primarily on a combination for Jewel Pro Spider jigs and stickbaits while the deep bite has been on Webb Tail spoons and drop shot rigs. Shallow fish have been holding on ledge main lake and secondary points, isolated timber and wind will both help the stickbait bite. Deep fish have been following schools of shad in the center of larger creek arms, locate the shad with your electronics and the fish will be close by.
Kimberling City: The same deep and shallow patterns will work in the mid lake as in Branson. Fishing guides are also using Umbrella rigs and Jewel Jigs to target larger fish in the mid lake area. Jewel Pro Spider jigs in green pumpkin candy and PB&J have begun producing fish toward the back of larger creek arms. Look for the last channel swing and work the bait from the bank back to the channel. The Umbrella rig bite has been producing in deeper water on rocky points and banks. Look for banks that have a pronounced ledge with standing timber. Cast the rig toward the bank, count it down to just above the tree tops and reel in with a moderate retrieve.
James River: The James River continues to have the coldest water on the lake, ice can be found in the back of creeks and in small shallow coves from Campers Point to the upper James. At this time the main channel is clear but colder temperatures this week may cause the main channel to freeze above Cape Fair. Despite the cold water Branson fishing guides are still catching fish on the James; Jewel jigs, Float and Fly and Umbrella rigs have been the best patterns. The Float and Fly rig has been best on steep main lake channel banks and points, white and silver jigs have been the best colors below the float with about a 10' leader.
White River: The best jig bite has been on the White River. Jewel Pro Spider jigs in PB&J and Green Okeechobee blue have been producing for Branson fishing guides toward the back of major creek arms. Look for the last channel swing or "last rock bank" in a creek arm and work the jigs from the bank back into the channel. Umbrella rigs will produce here as well; look for banks with a significant ledge and standing timber to out produce other banks, most fish are suspending in the tops of submerged timer from 15' – 25' deep.
