Branson: Fishing guides haven't gotten out much over the past week, cold weather, snow and ice have made getting to the lake difficult at best. Today has been the best day in over the last ten and there is a significant warming trend forecast over the next two weeks. The bite today was tough, water temperatures are in the upper 30's on the main lake and there is significant ice toward the back of most creek arms and coves. A few fish on a SPRO McStick and Megabass stickbaits, with the cold water a minimum of 20 seconds between pauses is needed to draw strikes.

Kimberling City: Just like in Branson fishing guides have been finding the bite tough in Kimberling City. Most of the larger creek arms have ice in toward the back and some of the ice has broken free and drifted toward the mouths of creeks and into the main lake so be careful. The stickbait bite is effective here as well, add to that a decent Umbrella rig bite. Most of the fish are being caught about 15' – 20' deep over deeper water on rocky points. Position your boat in around 40' of water and make long cast toward the bank, allow the rig to sink for about 15 seconds and begin your retrieve. Tightlines UV shad and Zoom swimming fluke Jr. have been the best baits on the rig.

James River: The upper end of the James has been iced in for over a week, above Cape Fair the main channel is blocked with ice and most of the coves from the mid James up have a significant amount of ice cover. Aunt creek does have ice toward the back but from the ramp to the mouth of the creek is clear. Stickbaits and Umbrella rigs have been working in the James as well, the water is very cold so the bite has been tough. Allow the bait to site for a long time between twitches and make smaller jerks to draw strikes.

White River: Branson fishing guides have found quite a bit of ice up the Kings River, from Viola on up it is pretty well locked in and the rest of the river is dicey at best.
From Shell Knob to the James it is mostly ice free with the exception of creek arms and coves. In addition to the Umbrella rig and Stickbait bite Branson Fishing Guides have been catching a few fish on a float and fly rig. Look for fish to be around 12' – 15' deep on steeper shady banks. The best fly has been any of the Punisher shad flies. Timber has been helping the bite a little bit but working the bait slowly has been the key.
