Table Rock Lake Fishing Report 8-7-2009

Capt. Pete Wenners
August 7, 2009
Table Rock - Freshwater Fishing Report

August 7, 2009
Lake Level: 916.26
Water Temp: Main Lake: mornings 81-82 afternoon 82-87

Kimberling City, Baxter, Campbell Point & Dam area to Aunt's Creek~

Cooler temperatures in the last two weeks in July has the water cooled down and has stayed in the lower 80's. The fish are shallower than they normally are at this time of the year.

Fish are being caught on football jigs at 5' - 25' on main lake flat points with mixed pea gravel and chunk rock, many of these being smallmouths. Try Carolina rigged twin-tailed Chompers or 4" French fries. Best colors on jigs are Green pumpkin orange, brown with purple pr peanut butter jelly. Tip jig with twin tailed grubs or Zoom speed craws in brown or green colored trailers. Lots of fish are being caught on 1/2 & 3/4 oz. white or chrome jigging spoons around deeper main lake docks and also docks in the deeper creek arms. Look for the fish to be 10' - 25' and suspended around & under the docks, lifts and boats. An Eakins jig will work in the same areas.

The deeper drop shot seems to have slowed down with some fish feeding shallower in the morning but will still work 22' - 30' over submerged timber in 50' - 100' on main lake points, and also in the creek arms. 4" Chompers working well in brown purple, watermelon candy & plum

River Arms

Fish in these areas are also shallower then normal. Normally you would fish main river flats at 15' - 25' , look for fish to be in the same areas but shallower in the 5' - 15' range. Throw 7" or 8" plum colored Texas rigged worms or jigs around and wood cover (laydowns or brush). Crankbaits that run 5' - 10' in shad patterns, square billed shallower running crankbaits have been successful in backs of creeks and upper river arms. Try buzzbait and poopers early in the morning for that topwater action.

Good luck!
