Branson: Fishing guide trips continue to improve as water temperatures climb on the lower end. Fish are staging on secondary points near spawning pockets and a few smaller males have been fanning nests, the first wave of spawning fish should be on beds by next week. Targeting pre spawn fish has been the best strategy; a combination of Jewel jigs and Squirrel heads or split shot rigs on secondary points 8' – 15' deep has been very productive. The clear water in the dam area requires natural colors; green pumpkin and pb& j have been best.

Kimberling City: The same pre spawn bite has been effective in Kimberling City just like in Branson. Fishing guides have noticed a few more males cruising the bank with some here and there building nests but none of these fish have locked on yet. Secondary points have been the ticket, target fish with Jewel Pro Spider Jigs, Squirrel heads and split shot rigs. Match a Squirrel head with a 4" or 6" Tightlines UV finesse worm in UV Green red flake and work around secondary points from 6'- 12' deep to draw strikes.

James River: Fish are definitely on the move in The James River; much like Kimberling and Branson fishing guides have found fish staging for the spawn in the larger creek arms and on the upper end of the main lake. The same Jewel Jig, Squirrel head and split shot rigs will work in The James, change to slightly darker colors with the stained water. Green pumpkin and UV green have been best. There has been a flipping bite developing in the upper James as well, look for laydowns and other cover on transition areas at the end of channel swing banks to be the most productive locations.

White River: Some of the best fishing on the lake in in the White River. Branson fishing guides have been targeting pre spawn fish with the same techniques as the rest of the lake. Jewel jigs and Squirrel heads have been an obvious choice. On windy days an XPS single tail grub in smoke or milky salt and pepper has been very effective on main lake and secondary points as well. Count the grub down to around 8' deep and retrieve at a moderate pace to draw strikes. In spawning pockets cruising bass can be caught on a weightless UV Enko. Rig the bait either wacky style or Texas rigged and cast close to any cover in a pocket. Allow the bait to sink all the way to the bottom before moving it and letting it fall again. Most strikes will come as the bait is falling.

The Corps of Engineers continue to generate current almost all day, everyday making the trout active and feeding. Here are the top patterns working for Branson fishing guides this past week.

• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs cast upstream allowing the current to drift the boat downstream over flats and drop offs with mixed colors of eggs was a dominate pattern
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Just about any color will work but white and grey have been better closer to the dam and brown and olive better downstream
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a float in creek arms from Cooper creek to below the Branson Landing.
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, white or grey up around the trophy area to around fall creek, and sculpin and olive further downstream near Monkey Island and Branson Landing.
• A few better fish have been caught on small stickbaits; Rapala and Yozuri in gold or rainbow patterns have been best. .
The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
