Branson: Fishing guides have seen water temperatures drop into the upper 40's and low 50's over the past week and fish are definitely on the move. A couple of distinct patterns have been shaping up on the lower end. Fish can still be caught shallow on wiggle warts and Bandit 300 crankbaits and a solid deep bite has begun to take shape as schools of shad are moving into larger creek arms. For the crankbait fish steeper rocky banks more or less parallel from the bank to 8' deep maintaining bottom contact throughout the retrieve, windy is a plus. Look for schools of shad to be toward the mouths of larger creek arms holding close to the bottom from 35' – 55' deep, a little sunshine will lift these fish off the bottom and in turn get the fish moving. Jewel and Webb Tail spoons have been the best bait to target these fish.

Kimberling City: Despite a little cooler water temperature the shallow bite has been stronger in the mid lake than in Branson. Fishing guides have been targeting rocky banks with wiggle warts and Bandit crankbaits in the larger creek arms and in main lake pockets. Look for longer stretches of bank where you can parallel the bank for a hundred or so yards to be the most productive. Jewel Spider jigs have also been very effective. Larger community docks on rocky points are producing a mixed bag from 5' -15' deep.

James River: Much like in Kimberling City and in Branson fishing guides have been chasing shallow fish in the James River. A mix of crankbaits and Jewel Spider jigs have been the ticket with a number of better quality largemouth being caught in the mid James area. There are a few fish starting to show up on an Umbrella rig, most of these fish have been close to the bottom on main lake and secondary points close to drop offs and deep water. Look for the fish to be holding tight to the bottom from 8' – 15' deep close to deeper water.

White River: The White River continues to have some of the most varied fishing on the lake. Branson fishing guides have been catching fish from the bank to 75' deep and just about everywhere in between. On windy days steep rocky banks are holding fish from the bank to around 10' deep. Cast wiggle warts and bandit 300's more or less parallel to the bank, pause the bait whenever you strike a rock or other cover many times the fish will come out of the cover to hit the bait. The umbrella rig bite is on in the White River as well look for fish to be on main lake and secondary points tight to the bottom from 10' – 20' deep close to deep water. Toward the mouths of larger creek arms you'll find schools of shad holding close to the bottom from 35' – 70'. Drop spoons and drop shot rigs below the schools to draw strikes. Many times the fish will be so tight to the bottom they won't show up on your electronics. If there are shad present drop the bait all the way to the bottom to draw fish up.

The Corps of Engineers continues to run a lot of water through the dam, last week it seemed like they had at least one unit running all day every day. All that current has the trout feisty and ready to bite so the fishing has been fantastic all week. . Here is what's been working for Branson fishing guides this past week:

• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a float in creek arms from Fall Creek to below Monkey Island.
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover from Cooper Creek through Branson.
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.
• Live night crawlers on a drift rig cast upstream allowing the current to drift the boat downstream over flats is a dominate pattern

The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
