Branson: Fishing guides are still relying on the deep bite to put most of the fish in the boat on the lower end of the lake. Jewel Scuba spoons and Rapala Jigging Raps are still the most productive lures with a few fish coming on XPS grubs on a jig head or Yamamoto cut tail worms on a drop shot rig. Fish have stayed in two distinct patterns over the past week; either holding close to trees near the main creek channel of larger creeks or on gravel points and flats that reach out into the main lake or creek channel;. Look for most of the fish to be holding between 35' – 60' deep, either suspended around trees or right on the bottom on gravel.

Kimberling City: Definitely a solid deep bite just like in Branson, fishing guides are using Jewel Scuba spoons and Ice Baits to target fish around trees along creek channels or on the bottom on gravel points or flats. The stickbait bite is strong in the mid lake; Megabass Vision 110 and SPRO McStick baits have been best. Look for steeper ledge rock banks to be the most productive areas and a little wind will help the bite. Most of the time a 10 – 15 second pause has been effective but a shorter pause will work if it is cloudy and windy.

James River: Umbrella rigs, Jewel Jigs and stickbaits are all effective presentations on the James River. Branson fishing guides have had success on steeper ledge banks on the main lake and in the larger creek arms. Umbrella rigs with Kietech or Zoom swimbaits are working on main lake points with isolated timber from 15' – 25' deep. Look for ledge rock and chunk rock points with isolated trees and run umbrella rigs as close to the timber as possible to draw fish out of the tree. SPRO McStick and Megabass Vision 110 stickbaits have been effective on these same locations, pause the baits close to the tree from 10 – 15 seconds. Jewel Magnum Casting jigs worked on the last couple of channel swings of a creek arm have been producing numbers and quality fish. Work the jig slowly from the bank to the channel, dead stick the jig for a few seconds after it falls off a ledge as bass will follow it down and pick it up as it is sitting on the bottom.

White River: All the patterns working on the rest of the lake are working on the White River. Just like in Branson, fishing guides have been using Jewel Scuba Spoons and Rapala Jigging Raps in creek channels and on gravel points. The stickbait bite on ledge rock banks has been very strong with SPRO McSticks and Megabass Vision 110's. Jewel Magnum Casting jigs have been effective on channel swings toward the back of larger creeks and around big boat docks. Umbrella rigs on steep main lake and secondary points have been producing better fish.

Generation picked up toward the end of the week and the bite improved significantly. Here is what's been working for Branson fishing guides this past week:

With Current:
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
• Live night crawlers on a drift rig cast upstream allowing the current to drift the boat downstream over flats
• Without Current
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a float. .
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.

The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
