Branson: Fishing guides have been targeting fish on two distinct patterns over the past week; deep vertical fishing and swimming grubs around trees. The deep bite has been on Jewel Scuba Spoons and Rapala Jigging Raps and has moved to secondary points in the larger creek arms. Look for isolated trees to be the most productive areas, trees that top out around 25' – 35' deep over 60' have been the best. Bass Pro Shops XPS grubs in salt and pepper or smoke have been producing on a ¼ oz. head around tree tops. The most productive trees have been 30' or deeper with the fish suspending around 15' down. Cast the grub beyond the tree, count it down and swim it close to the tree to draw strikes.

Kimberling City: The Bass Pro Shops XPS grub bite is strong in the mid lake just like in Branson. Fishing guide have been targeting fish suspended about 10' down over 30' of water. With the rain and run off over the weekend the lake has come up almost three feet and with the exception of the backs of the bigger creeks the lake has remained fairly clear. There are fish beginning to stage outside spawning pockets on steeper rocky points. Jewel Pro Spider jig and Paca Chunk combos have been working well on these fish 20' – 30' deep.

James River: The rain last week brought a lot of debris and color to the James River. Branson fishing guides have been doing well targeting pre spawn fish at the mouth of spawning pockets 20' – 30' deep with Jewel Spider jigs and Squirrel heads. Further up into Flat creek and the upper James the White Bass run has started. Look for schools of whites heading up stream and feeding on shad and other minnows on flat banks from the split to Galena.

White River: Bass Pro XPS Grubs are the ticket in tree tops from Baxter to Campbell point, look for trees in 25' – 35' of water and swim the bait as close to the trees as possible to draw strikes. Further upstream the Wiggle Wart bite has started, Branson fishing guides have been fishing channel swing banks in The Kings River and in the larger creek arms of the White with craw pattern wiggle warts.

With the rain the Corps of Engineers has been running one unit throughout the day and kicking it up to three or four early in the morning. Fishing has been good either way, but current always makes the trout a little more frisky. Here is what's been working for Branson fishing guides this past week:

With Current:
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
• Live night crawlers on a drift rig cast upstream allowing the current to drift the boat downstream over flats
• Without Current
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a float. .
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.

The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
