Branson: Fishing guides have noticed an influx of stained water into the lower end of the lake. With the Corps of Engineers running four generators all day everyday the dirtier water from Long Creek has been drawn into the dam area causing warmer water temperatures and moving fish shallower. The best bite this past week on the lower end has been on a Bass Pro Shops XPS single tail grub. Rig the grub on a ¼ oz. head and fish it on secondary points adjacent to spawning pockets. Most of the fish have been suspended around timber on these points so count the grub down to about ten feet and retrieve with a constant moderate speed.

Kimberling City: Surprisingly the water is clearer in the mid lake than in Branson. Fishing guides have been targeting pre-spawn fish around Kimberling City as well; a combination of crankbaits and jigs have been the best options. Steeper points and banks near spawning coves are holding most of the fish from 10' – 20' deep. On windy or cloudy days they will be much shallower and can be caught on Wiggle Warts and Bandit 300 crankbaits, fish these banks and points more or less parallel to keep the bait in the strike zone longer. ON calm days back out and throw a Jewel Pro Spider Jig or Magnum Casting jig with a Paca chunk trailer. Most of the fish will be holding tight to any ledge on the bank so pay close attention as the bait falls from one ledge to another.

James River: As the rain totals begin to mount up the James River has remained stained to downright muddy. Branson fishing guides have been targeting fish shallow in the James keying in on staging areas close to spawning spots. Wiggle Warts and Bandit crankbaits have been key as have War Eagle spinnerbaits, look to steeper areas to be holding most of the fish, any wood cover on these steep banks needs to be fished thoroughly. On calm sunny days these same banks will produce as well, Jewel Magnum Casting jigs with Paca chunk trailers have been the key presentation, look for fish to be a little deeper when it's calm, most of the bites will come 10' – 15' deep.

White River: The best area of the lake continues to be the White River; Branson fishing guides have been catching fish on several different patterns are fish are moving closer to the spawn. On windy or cloudy days steep banks and points will produce with Wiggle Warts and War Eagle Spinnerbaits, on calm days a Jewel Magnum Casting jig and Paca chunk combo is hard to beat. There have been several fish that have already moved into the spawning pockets and begun cruising, they have not begun to make beds but if the warmer temps hold it won't be long. Target these with a trio of presentations; weightless Senkos pitch around shallow cover are tough for a cruiser to leave alone, Ned rigs dragged from 5' – 15' deep are starting to produce and a split shot rig in these same depths round out the top three presentations.

The Corps of Engineers continues to run four units almost continually making the lower end of the lake and feeder creeks your best option right now for Taneycomo trout. . Here is what's been working for Branson fishing guides this past week:

• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a couple of floats 6' – 8' down.
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover

The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
