Montana winter spring creek fishing

Brian McGeehan
January 12, 2012
Bozeman - Freshwater Fishing Report

We have had a few guide trips out on the local spring creeks in the last few weeks. The mild winter is also producing some nice fishing on freestone rivers like the Gallatin. The spring creeks are always a great option in the winter. Some like DePuy also have warming huts with wood burning stoves which is nice when the wind picks up. The fishing is mostly nymphing but Miles also found a few groups of fish rising to midges on his last trip. The most productive nymphs have been scuds and small midge larva. For risers palimino midges are hard to beat. For reports on other rivers visit http://www.montanaangler.com
