Cool Spring weather, but good fishing.

Capt. William De Shaw
April 4, 2008
Gallatin River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Try the Gallatin river. Early Spring can be good fishing. I like to use some bigger bugs like Rubber Legs, and all the good Buggar patters. Black and Brown Flashabuggars work good. For small nymphs, I will go with a Prince or a Lightning Bug. (All Bead heads)
Some early Mayfly Hatches can be found, as well as snowflies. (Midges) Caddis in May. Try early May, as runoff will usually start in mid month depending on the weather.

This year offers a cool Spring (so far) with an above normal snowpack. Looking for a good July after runoff. The Gallatin is one of our favorites for Big fish.

Good Fishing,
Bill De Shaw
