San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report
Hello Everyone,
The fall colors are starting to show in the cottonwoods, the sun is warm and the breeze is cool. Fishing is hot and the weather has been great. This is the nicest time to fish the Beautiful San Juan River. The river flow is around 700 cfs. Water clarity 3-4 feet Texas hole to catch and release area. T-hole on down to the bait water visibility is around 4-5 '. the upper area is still holding some major fat hogs. Fishing in the upper areas, catch and release to upper flats has been fishing good. Early am egg colored egg patterns #14-16. Olive or gray crystal flash midges #24, a brown bodied midge pupa with a yellow wrap and a black head #24, coated with hard as nails to give it that wet look worked real good till the last one was broke off. The T- hole on down is fishing good also. Early am most days, the midges have been coming off thick. Other morning the beatis where coming about mid morning going to mid afternoon. Iron gray krystal flash midge with silver wire wrap #24. Gray cdc wing rs2 and gray foam wings #20-22 late am to 3-4:00 pm. Also #22 princess, and beatis nymphs #20-22.
