San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Hello Everyone,
The water flow will be at 5000 cfs as of tomorrow, 05/23. The river will fish good from the boats, using #16 brown, red or orange San Juan worms, to a 18-20 pink or yellow egg, #18 large red larva's or beatis patterns. Once the water starts running clear and the fish start looking up for the terrestrials{ants,beetles, and spiders, on the surface you will be able to catch some big fish on the surface, with large dries.
Please DO NOT WADE the River at 5000 cfs, unless you know the area very well. One bad mistake at this flow could prove very dangerous, or worse.
When the river starts to drop on 05/30 the fishing should be great. By Saturday 06/02 the flow will be at 500 cfs. The bite and the fishes attitude should be ready to play. Top water terristals and the regular midge, and beatis nymphs, will be hot.
The Lake Bite Is On. Water temp 59-63. Top water action for smallies and carp getting hot. The crappie bite has been good the last few weeks. The lake should fish hot for the next few weeks into early July.
June and July the river will be at it's best, till fall.
San Juan River Fishing Forecast:

The San Juan River will fish good to great after high water flows.
The Top water bite will pick-up as the water temps rise. The carp are showing sings of being done with the spawn and ready to eat. Large cicada's being burped up Smallies. Pike cruising near the bait balls of bluegill and crappie.
Target Species:

Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Bass, Pike, Carp.
