San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report
Fishing is excellent. The Spring break crowds have thinned out, the trees are budding, and the fish are looking up, eating Beatis.
The upper waters are fishing good, using cream and olive midge pupas #22-24s, red larva is doing OK #22-24. Try using a midge to Beatis combo.
The braids and ESPN hole is fishing good. Great sight fishing using cream & olive UFOs.
The kiddy hole is awesome, no pressure and hundreds of trout. Use short rig and midge patterns.
The main channel is OK, but has had a lot of fishing pressure lately.
From T- hole to end of quality water is fishing great. Midge patterns in early a.m. then the Beatis start to come off use PTs, wd-40s, RS-2s all fishing good #20-22s. River is flowing at 650cfs, 8-10’ visibility.
Premier Guided Fly fishing trips for trophy Rainbow and Brown Trout on the world class San Juan River, New Mexico. Float or wade trips available. Great prices on vacation packages.
