San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report

New Fishing Report
Hello everyone,
Fishing report updated 6/7/04
The river flow is around 371 cfs, the river clarity is 3 - 4 feet. As of today the river is fishing pretty good to great. . The river has a good color to it. The dry fly fishing has started. The fish were eating size16 black ants the other morning before the beatis started coming off. Then you can fish the beatis, blue wing olive hatch, and if you stay out late enough, the dead chicken fly for the midge hatch. The north bank across from the cable hole is fishing good using a #24 brown bodied, yellow thread ribbed, black headed midge pupa. The last few days there has been a large midge hatch early am.
As of today, I am a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain. The top water bite is on at the lake for Smallmouth Bass, and Carp using dries, and popper’s.
