San Juan River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone,
As of now the river is flowing at 1000 cfs. The visibility is around 6-7 feet. There is some moss.
The hot fly for awhile was a #22-24 very thin wrapped red larva, or #24-26 red hots. What has worked best for me in the upper areas is a #20-22 gray or olive larva. Dark or light gray midge pupa's #24-26. Mark's #22 gray magic midge. # 22-26 cream ufo's
Texas Hole to Simon Canyon has been good fishing. The back channels are holding a good # of large fish. Red Larva's have been the ticket early am, #24-26 gray midge pupa's have been getting bit for me.
PMD"s are starting to come of in the bait waters, and the lower section of the Catch and Release waters. #16-18 Natural Hares ear for a nymph, and a #16-18 PMD Parachute for the dry should get the line tight.
The Lake is fishing hot for 2-3 pound Small mouth Bass. Using wacky worms or a drop shot rig at around 15 feet, on the tops of submerged rocks or point tops. and sinking swim baits. The bass are on the young yellow perch bait balls at around 15". 3-4" pearl white fluke swim baits. Take a quick look at my web site for sizzling hot Summer trip specials. The Mosquito"s are very bad. Wear clothing that is cool, but covers you as much as possible, and Wear Your Deet thick.
