Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

This past week has provided Lake Ontario trollers a mixed bag of quality trout & salmon.
Depending on your program and where you fish, savvy anglers have been boxing some amazing catches.
We are catching salmon to 30 pounds, browns and rainbows averaging 8 pounds with many over 12. What a tremendous fishery we have.
It is sad to see all the boats just sitting most days as the hay days are here but many are scared to spend the money with all the economical uncertainties that surround us.
There has been some bass and northern pike action on Sandy pond and Lakeview Marsh, especially along the weed lines. Cast spinnerbaits, rubber worms, small crankbaits and of course don't forget the jitterbugs and buzzbaits for some hot top water action.
On Oneida Lake fishing with jigs has slowed down and now the walleye are showing a preference for trolled baits over the deepest part of the lake 45 to 55 feet. Look for bass in about 6 ft. of water using crayfish and worms and panfish are doing well along the shoreline.
I currently have July 26 & 29 and August 4, 6 open if you have the itch.
The fish are waiting for you.
Best Fishes,
Troy
