Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Wednesday October 9, 2013.
The rains of the past several days have given all tributaries within Orleans County increase water flow and slightly stained water.
These conditions have spurred the migration of Salmon to the upper reaches of the "Oak" and introduced Chinooks into Sandy, Marsh and Johnson Creeks.
Some fishermen are reporting a fair number of hook-ups on both Brown and Steelhead/Rainbow trout on all of our tributaries.
Surprisingly there are still a good number of fish being taken on Lake Ontario in the 50 of water range.
With the weather forecast calling for an increase in the chance for more rain towards the weekend and into early next week, good to great fishing opportunities should continue.
On Lake Alice a good number of smaller Bluegill and Crappie are being caught and released, which means the future of both these species looks good.
Northern pike and Catfish are being reported in the catches on the "Oak" along with some Perch.
Please mark it on your calendar, October 16, 17 and 18 this year is the St. Mary's Archer's Club Catch and Release Derby.
It's a great time to enjoy our fantastic fishery, meet new friends and enjoy great food.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
