Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Monday April 2, 2012.
With more seasonable weather this week, fishing opportunities should stabilize somewhat.
It seems like the Perch are showing up in much better numbers at the Point.
Brown trout and Steelhead/Rainbow trout are still being reported in both Oak Orchard River and Johnson Creek.
In the very upper reaches of Oak Orchard River, above Lake Alice, good size Smallmouth bass are being seen.
Just remember that Bass season doesn't open until the third Saturday in June so this time of year is catch and immediately release.
On Lake Alice good catches of both Bluegill and Crappie are being taken in the upper reaches around Kenyonville and above.
On Glenwood Lake good size Crappie are being taken when the "Glenwood Lake Monster" isn't around.
Fairly consistent catches of Bullhead are being reported on Johnson Creek from the Kuckville Bridge all the way up to the Dam at Lyndonville.
When the wind is favorable, guys are doing well on Brown trout and Rainbow/ Steelhead trout on Lake Ontario both from boats and from the piers.
It won't be long now before the call of Lake Ontario "Fish On" will be a welcome sound and the "Big Lake" season will be in full swing.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
