Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Monday, June 25, 2012.
This past Saturday the 2nd Annual Glenwood Lake Carp Derby was held with over 150 anglers joining in on the festivities.
More than $1,000 was raised which will be distributed to the Food Banks of Medina, Albion and Kendall.
The big fish was caught by Bob Brown of Medina which weighed in at 6.2 pounds.
Gary Ettinger of Ridgeway topped the list of most fish caught which was 51.
On the other inland waters of Orleans County fishing has been steady and productive.
Lake Alice is still producing great numbers of both Bluegill and Crappie along with good numbers of Smallmouth bass.
The wide waters area of the Erie Canal seems to be the hot spot presently.
Also on Glenwood Lake good numbers of catfish are being taken.
On the lower stretches of the Oak all the way to the Point, good catches of both Large and Small mouth Bass are being reported.
Lake Ontario off the Orleans County shoreline is still very alive with good to great catches of Chinook salmon and Steelhead/Rainbow trout.
Most are fishing in the 100 to 250 foot range and doing well using all methods.
It seems like Green is the color as of late although watermelon and Orange patterns are also doing very well.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
