Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Monday August 13, 2012.
The hardest part of fishing on Lake Ontario right now is keeping up with the very fast moving water.
Yesterday people were fishing in great temperature water at 80 feet of water and within an hour that water had moved out to over 200 feet of water.
Riggs went from 30,40 and 60 feet down to 80, 90 and 110 feet down.
Dipsy's went from 80 and 90 feet back to 190 to 240 feet back.
The color patterns stayed pretty much the same with 42 second patterns in both spoons and flashers remaining pretty consistent.
It seems like where ever you find fish, there is a good mixture of all of the species ( mainly Chinooks, Cohos and Steelhead/Rainbow trout).
With less than a week left in the Orleans County Rotary Club Derby it seems like the leader board changes daily, but there is still time for you to enter and win one of the great cash Prizes.
Don't forget that the Greater Niagara Fish Odyssey runs from August 18 thru August 26 and the Fall LOC Derby runs from August 18 thru September 3.
On the inland waters of Orleans County the Erie canal is still shut down from Holley to Medina but should be reopening very soon.
The best fishing report on the inland waters is still the Bluegill and Crappie fishing from the Waterport Bridge.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
