Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday April 10, 2013.
Cooler temperatures and rain dominate the forecast through the end of this week and into next week.
This should bring our Orleans County tributaries back up to medium flows with some color to the water and it should also bring in some fresh Steelhead/rainbow trout.
There have not been any reports of Bullhead fishing starting up yet but Suckers have been on the increase lately.
Perch fishing on the "Oak" from the bridges area all the way to the Point is still on the rise.
Along the shoreline of Lake Ontario and from the jetties, Brown trout fishing has been very good to excellent when wave conditions permit.
So far a Brown trout weighing 24 pounds 8 ounces has been weighed in at one of our local tackle shops.
Let's hope that this trend continues for all of the species this year.
With a little less than a month to go before the Spring LOC Derby begins, it's time to re-spool reels with fresh line, sharpen all the hooks, finish checking out the boat, buy that latest piece of equipment you've been looking at and head to Lake Ontario for some trial runs.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
