Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday April 24, 2013.
Last Friday the D.E.C. stocked 34,800 Steelhead/Rainbow trout fingerlings in the tributaries of Orleans County.
21,000 went into Oak Orchard River, 6,700 into Johnson Creek and 7,100 into Marsh Creek.
May they all live long and return often.
The rain today should help maintain the flows in the tributaries within Orleans County.
Presently flows are at a moderate level with stained water giving 1 to 2 feet of visibility.
Sucks are on the increase but even with that persistent anglers are reporting some good hookups with bigger Steelhead/Rainbow trout.
Bullhead fishing is finally on the upswing on both Marsh Creek and Oak Orchard River.
Perch fishing on the Oak is still good from the bridges area all the way to the Point.
On Lake Ontario off the shores of Orleans County fishing has been very good when the wind permits boats to get on the lake.
Brown trout fishing along the shoreline is exceptional.
Lake trout on the bottom in approximately 80 feet of water and Chinooks down 50 to 60 feet in over 100 feet of water provide a good mixed bag of fish to target.
Please remember that no matter what species of fish you are targeting, limit your catch to what you can use instead of always taking your limit.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
