Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday June 19, 2013.
For those who may not have heard yet, Point Breeze has been voted Ultimate Fishing Town for 2013 by the World Fishing Network.
Last year our friends in Olcott, New York received this honor proving that Lake Ontario offers some of the very best fishing in the country.
The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday June 26th at 11 AM right at the Point.
Please join us for the celebration if you can.
On Lake Ontario, Mother Nature seems to be settling down somewhat and allowing the lake to finally start setting up.
With surface temperatures finally getting into the 60s and down temperatures to the point (49 degrees approximately 80' down) that fish can start finding their preferred temperature zones, a more consistent fishery should be emerging.
Recent reports show a good mixed bag of fish being taken in the 80 to 150' range, mostly on mag size spoons off the downriggers.
The Summer LOC Derby began June 15th and runs through July 28th this year.
Go the www.loc.org to check the leader board.
This year we are expanding the 3 fish tournament from 1 (The Condor Tournament) to a total of 5 throughout the summer (June7, july13, July 20, August 17 and September 1) and calling the series the King of the Oak Tournament Series.
Entries for each event are available at Captain's Cove, Narby's, Lake Breeze Marina and Four C's Marina.
The rules are simple, fish out of the "Oak", pay the $100 cash entry fee before 7AM the day of the event and bring your 3 fish to the weigh in at Lake Breeze Marina before 3 PM.
30% of the field will be paid at each event.
After the September 1st event there will be a bring a dish to pass picnic under the pavilion at Lake Breeze Marina at which time the "King of the Oak" will be crowned.
On the inland waters of Orleans County waters are starting to clear after all of the rain that we have received in recent days.
This means that on Lake Alice the Bluegill and Crappie catches should be on the rise again.
Both Smallmouth and Largemouth bass catches are also on the upswing on all of our inland waters.
Finally this Saturday, June 22nd, is the 3rd Annual Glenwood Lake Carp Derby.
It's a great event for both young and old alike.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
