Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday August 14, 2013.
The winds of the next few days will keep all but the hardiest of fishermen off Lake Ontario.
It's a shame because fishing for trout and salmon on the big lake has been good to very good.
Great fishing has been taking place from 70 feet of water all the way out to the 31-32 line.
On the inside waters it has been Brown trout and Chinook salmon and on the outside waters it has been Chinook salmon and Steelhead/Rainbow trout.
Conditions are supposed to improve towards the weekend, just in time for one of the busiest times of the year for derbies.
The Fall LOC begins this Saturday, August 17th which also the second to the last leg of the "King of the Oak" Derby.
Then on Sunday August 18th, it's the end of the Orleans County Rotary Club Derby.
All that means on Saturday you can be entered in 3 derbies at the same time.
On the inland waters of Orleans County Bass seems to be the most active fish right now, but Northern Pike, Gar Pike and the other warm water species are holding their own.
The Erie Canal, Glenwood Lake, Lake Alice and the tributaries within Orleans County are great places to fish and enjoy the great outdoors.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario New York, the 2013 Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
