Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Wednesday, November 27, 2013.
Now that the Erie Canal is just about dewatered, the precipitation thru the end of this week should help maintain decent levels in all of the tributaries within Orleans County.
Water clarity should be clear to slightly stained.
The colder weather thru the end of the week should drop tributary temperatures and slow things down a bit but then the warmer weather this weekend and into next week will pick fishing back up again.
With this being a holiday week fishing pressure should be greatly reduced, giving those who wish to brave the elements more open waters.
Before this cold snap runs of both Brown trout and Steelhead/Rainbow trout were on the upswing and should return to those levels as the temperature rises above freezing again next week.
Egg sacs in a broad variety of colors seem to be the mainstay but wooly Buggers, Nymphs and egg sucking leeches are also doing well.
Most are tipping their baits with Wax Worms, Spikes or Night Crawlers.
Perch fishing on the lower portion of the Oak is very spotty to say the least and that comes from those who fishing the Oak often for Perch.
On Lake Alice things have gone fairly quiet and will probably remain that way until hard water fishing starts.
Please remember that Bass season closes on November 30th.
December 1st Bass become a catch and release only fishery using only artificial lures.
This Thanksgiving please remember those who have less than most of us and also those who aren't lucky enough to be able to come home, especially those overseas protecting our freedom.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's 2013 Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
