Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday December 11, 2013.
Temperatures for the rest of the week are predicted to be below freezing and a possibility of snow several of the days.
At this point the surrounding areas have had snow but we have been spared any significant snowfall.
This means is that Oak Orchard River flow is at a moderate level and the surrounding smaller tributaries within Orleans County are at slightly low levels.
Water clarity on all our tributaries are either slightly stained to clear conditions.
There is still a good mix or fresh and drop back Brown trout and Rainbow/Steelhead trout in all out tributaries but hook up success goes up and down during the day partially due to cloud cover.
Steelhead are being caught using egg sacs, rubber eggs, all types of woolly buggers, egg
sucking leeches in dark colors (brown, black tipped with red or chartreuse. they are float fishing and some are using the beads in chartreuse or white glow.
With the sustained colder temperatures for the week be on the look-out for slush and ice build-up especially on the smaller tributaries.
On the lower portion of Oak Orchard River from the bridges area to the point, some decent catches of Perch are being reported but not consistently.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Networks 2013 Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, New York, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
