Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday March 12, 2014.
The first day of Spring may be only 8 days away but Winter is not ready to loosen its grip on our area yet.
Predictions are for up to 20 inches of snow over the next two days, as if we haven't already had enough.
Friday temperatures are supposed to be in the 40s, so a good snow melt should begin.
Surprisingly fishing has been fair to good on the Oak with good numbers for dark and fresh Steelhead/Rainbow trout being reported.
The best fishing seems to be in the deeper pools that are holding fish.
Please remember to follow the new guidelines when fishing in the Brookfield Power Plant area.
Some of the smaller tributaries within Orleans County have limited open water but I have not heard any reports as of yet.
Ice fishing on the lower portion of the Oak is producing Perch, Walleye, Bass and an occasional Steelhead.
Just remember that at this time of year Bass are catch and release only.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.

More Fishing Reports:
