Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday April 2, 2014.
It's amazing what a few warm days can do reducing the ice on our tributaries.
All of the tributaries within Orleans County are now open at least to the point that they are fishable for most of their length.
Also the waters of Lake Ontario are open along our shoreline.
Both on the tributaries and Lake Ontario both Brown trout and Rainbow/Steelhead are being taken.
Oak Orchard is at a slightly high level with visibility reduced to approximately 1 foot.
The smaller tributaries are running high and greatly stained, but levels are receding and clarity is improving.
On Lake Ontario boats are working that near shore water especially around the tributary discharge areas.
This coming Saturday, April 5th, at 8 AM we will be assembling the pen rearing pens to prepare for the delivery of both Rainbow/Steelhead trout and Chinook salmon in the very near future.
The pens are stored at the new Ernst's Lake Breeze Marina.
Why not come and lend a hand with the pen assembly and then meet Gatlen Ernst, the new owner, and his fiancée, Danielle Daniels.
It's also a good time to meet with people you may not have seen all winter long to catch up on what changes.
There has been yet another change in the fee structure for fishing licenses.
As of April 1st, 7 day fishing licenses for residents went from $13.00 to $12.00 and non-resident 7 day fishing licenses went from $31.00 to $28.00.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
