Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday April 9, 2014.
Daytime high temperatures are finally looking more like springtime for the rest of this week and into next week.
This warming trend is melting the last of the snow and that along with the rain is causing all of the tributaries within Orleans County to be either blown out or nearly blown out.
These conditions should improve thru the week and some great tributary fishing should avail itself later in the week and into next week.
On Lake Ontario Brown trout fishing is very good right along the shoreline, especially around the tributary discharges.
These conditions also provide an excellent opportunity to cast from the shoreline or jetties for Brown trout and Steelhead/Rainbow trout.
This is actually a great time of year for fishing.
Bullhead should start being active along with many of the other warm water species.
The small lakes and ponds within Orleans County are warming and should start providing some excellent fishing opportunities.
It won't be long before the Erie Canal is again filled, providing many other of the favorite fishing spots.
Just a reminder that Northern Pike, Walleye and Pickerel seasons open the 1st Saturday in May and that Bass and Muskie season opens the 3rd Saturday in June.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
