Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

With only a hit and miss shower in the forecast, great weather is predicted for the rest of the week and into next week.
For those of you who use the boat launch facilities on the West side of Oak Orchard River, the state has taken that facility over again and is installing a pay to enter gate which will cost you $6.00 to enter.
The Empire Passport, Access Pass and Golden Park program will be accepted at this location.
Please call Lakeside Beach State Park at 585-682-4888 for more information.
The launch ramp on the East side of the river is still free to use.
With Tournaments going on last weekend and for the next two weekends, fishing information is hard to come by.
What little information I can get is that 70 to 120 feet of water seems to be the sweet spot and that large steelhead/Rainbow trout, Lake trout and Chinook salmon are being taken in good numbers.
It seems like everyone is catching their limit of fish with no real problems.
On Lake Alice Crappie still seems to be the most active fish but good numbers of Bass are being seen.
The Erie Canal is starting to show great signs of life with catches of a good mixed bag of fish.
The third Saturday of June is not that far off when it will be legal to keep Bass that you catch.
Just a reminder that on June 6th the Condor Derby will be held, followed by the first annual Oak Orchard Open Tournament.
This tournament features a brand new format and should really test the team's skills in attempting to come up with 5 Salmon and 5 Trout, of which only three can be Lake trout, for a box limit.
There is still time to enter with a cash entry fee.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's 2013 Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
