Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday June 4, 2014.
Summer is trying hard to get here but with night time temperatures still in the lower 50's it's a struggle.
On the inland waters of Orleans County fishing has been slow for most species except for Bass.
I wonder if they will remain active after the 3rd Saturday in June.
At the Point fishermen are getting Perch, Northern pike, Carp and some Walleye when conditions are right.
With the First Annual Oak Orchard Open taking place this weekend information on Lake Ontario fishing is almost impossible to come by.
This unique tournament structure gives a 10 fish limit of which only 5 can be Salmon, Chinooks, Cohoes and Atlantics.
The other 5 fish must be Trout, Lakers, Steelhead/Rainbows and Browns but only 3 can be Lake Trout.
It will be interesting to see how the teams work within this new structure.
This Friday will be the Condor Derby which is a one day event in which entrees weigh in their best 3 fish.
You can enter this event at Captains Cove, Narby's, Lake Breeze Marina or Four C's Marina up until 7 AM Friday.
Weigh in for these events will be held outside the Black North Inn.
Speaking of tournaments, congratulations to teams Maverick, Reel Excitement and Yankee Troller on their great finishes in the Niagara Pro-Ams the last 2 weekends.
As far as the fishing goes on Lake Ontario I guess the best advice would be to set up close and troll north looking for pockets of warmer water.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario the World Fishing Network's 2013 Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
