Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday June 11, 2014.
First congratulations to not only the winners of the Oak Orchard Open Tournament but also to those who came up with the new concept.
The 5 Salmon and 5 Trout concept seemed to be a little more difficult than most expected as evidenced by the fact that only 2 of the 36 teams brought in limit catches both days.
This great event should just continue to grow well into the future.
Rain today and tomorrow should give some good warm water plumes around the tributary discharges within Orleans County.
It looks like Lake Ontario temperatures are about 3 to 3 weeks behind the norm for this time of year.
Even with that delay, fishing on Lake Ontario has been in the good to excellent range so far this year.
With a good amount of east and northeast winds, the lake has not yet had an opportunity to fully set up which means that fishing is a true hunting game.
With Bass season still 11 days away please remember that it is still catch and immediately release.
This Saturday, June 14th, is the opening day of the Summer LOC Derby which runs thru July 27th this year.
The Grand Prize for the biggest Salmon for the derby will be $12,500.00 so get your entry in and join the fun.
On the inland waters of Orleans County fishing efforts are somewhat slow but should be picking up with Bass season opening and schools letting out for summer vacation.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
