Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday September 10, 2014.
After today the temperature rollercoaster takes an extended downhill dip.
The rest of this week and well into next week will be spent with day time high temperatures only in the 60's.
On Lake Ontario great salmon fishing continues to move closer and closer to shore but with the cooler temperatures that move could be even quicker.
Fishing lures still remain basically spoons and flasher/fly combinations but I wouldn't think that the time to break out the J-plugs can be too far off.
Pier head fishing should start to be more productive with both Brown trout and Chinooks becoming more readily available.
This is also the time that those with smaller boats who respect Lake Ontario can stay within their near shore comfort zone and do well.
Fishing on the tributaries, smaller lakes and the Erie Canal within Orleans County has been fair with Bass being the most caught species followed by Bluegill, Crappie and Northern Pike.
All too soon for some and not soon enough for others, our fishery will transition from Lake Ontario to the great tributaries that feed the lake within Orleans County.
This means that the time is at hand to check equipment and get the last of the flies tied so you will be ready for another great season.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
