Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday September 17, 2014.
For those of you who are trying to enjoy the last of the Lake Ontario Fishery for the year or those who are pier fishing at the Point, you are aware that the dredging company is back at work again.
They should be finished by the end of this week and then move on to Wilson again.
Over the next week the weather rollercoaster will be in full swing with daytime highs in the upper 70's and daytime lows in to mid to lower 50's.
Even with the large variation in temperature, the migration of the cold water species to the tributaries is already starting.
This is the time of the year that staging fishing are available in the near shore waters near the tributaries that they will be entering and also available in those tributaries as they venture up stream to check out their spawning areas.
As some of you might be aware of, Brookfield Power has placed some new regulations on those who fish from their property at the Waterport Dam.
There are new warning lights, sirens and messages that warm of changes in water flow in both the turbine and overflow channels.
There are also requirements for the wearing of PFDs in certain areas of Brookfield's property.
In the next week or so I will list all of the information that I have to date on the Orleans County Tourism website, www.orleanscountyfishing.com.
Please take a few minutes to review the new regulations.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Networks Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
