Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday October 1, 2014.
Enjoy the warm weather for the rest of the work week because by the weekend more fall like conditions will be upon us.
Instead of daytime highs in the upper 70's they will be in the lower to mid 60's at best and the fall rain will be here.
This should entice more of the staging salmon to complete their migration to the upper pools and the dam area on the Oak.
Right now the area around the bridges and downstream to the lake are holding a good number of salmon as are the pooling areas of Marsh, Johnson and Sandy creeks.
Water flows on all of the tributaries within Orleans County are at a medium to low flow.
Part of the reason is due to the treating of the Erie Canal waters to control vegetation which cause the shutdown of canal waters into the tributaries while the system clears itself.
With rain in the forecast flows should be on the increase and water clarity should become slightly stained.
There is still plenty of great fishing around the tributary discharges into Lake Ontario both from shore and from small boats.
The fish cleaning station at the Waterport Dam seems to opening up for the season.
Again, please take time to review the new regulations for those using Brookfield Power's land for your fishing enjoyment.
Go to www.orleanscountyfishing.com for a review of these regulations.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
