Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday October 22, 2014.
At some point today the Waterport Bridge will re-open to traffic after being closed most of the summer for repairs.
A correction to last week's report, the Erie Canal closes on November 19th and Bass season closes on November 30th.
The rain of the past few days have brought the water levels in all of the tributaries within Orleans County to an average to slightly above average level and created slightly stained water conditions.
The runs of fresh Chinooks still seems to be very strong on all of the tributaries and it looks like they should continue for awhile yet.
The Brown trout numbers are on the increase also with some healthy size fish being taken.
Steelhead/Rainbow trout are just starting to pick up somewhat but those numbers will increase with colder weather approaches.
The numbers of Atlantic salmon being reported are spotty, but then they are one of the most unpredictable species that populate our streams and rivers.
On Lake Alice decent numbers of both Large and Smallmouth bass are being taken, mostly on the upper reaches of the lake.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
