Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday January 7, 2015.
It won't be long now before the solid water anglers will be able to enjoy their brand of angling.
With daytime highs staying below the freezing mark well into next week and beyond and night time lows dipping into the single digits, icing conditions should become a major problem for the tributary fishermen.
Fishermen can expect shore ice to continue to form during the day so please be mindful of your surrounding conditions.
Over the past several days we had approximately 2 inches of rain which brought the tributaries up to a slightly high and very stained conditions, but again with the colder temperatures levels should quickly drop and water clarity clear.
At least with the rain, fish should have been able to migrate up stream to some of the fast moving pools, giving fishermen some fresher fish to ply their efforts to.
On the lower stretches of the Oak conditions have been not very favorable so reports are quite sketchy.
With all of the rain Lake Alice conditions have been high and muddy but should change to iced over fairly quickly.
If the weather remains as cold as predicted, ice fishing conditions could be here by the beginning of next week but as always check the ice that you are on frequently to remain safe.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
