Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday January 21, 2015.
The slight warm up over the past weekend has given way to colder temperatures again.
Daytime highs remain below freezing for most of the week ahead and night time lows into the teens.
With that being said most of the smaller tributaries within Orleans County are again frozen over.
There still is open water on the Oak and those who ply their trade are still catching steelhead/rainbow trout and brown trout.
With the cold weather, ice has formed to the point that ice fishing is in full swing.
Those enjoying this type of fishing have several choices within Orleans County to try their luck.
Reports have perch and northern pike as the most active right now.
Even though we have had enough cold weather to form a good amount of ice, the moving water under that ice can erode the thickness in spots.
Always be mindful of your surroundings and keep safety first.
On another note Genesee and Orleans Counties have teamed up to offer some great tributary and lake fishing packages that include hotel, meals, guide, and charter services plus some extras from the Batavia Casino.
To see these great packages go to www.FishingPackages.net.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
