Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday January 28, 2015.
The deep freeze continues well into next week with some night time temperatures dipping to the single digits.
With some snow in the forecast for several days, fishing conditions and open water should be at a premium.
Other than Oak Orchard River near the power plant, hard water is the rule rather than the exception.
The Oak is open to just past the Archer's Club area and just around the bend by the DEC access area on the east side of the Oak.
Steelhead and brown trout are being taken by those who have the patience and warm enough clothing.
Ice fishermen have an abundance of areas to ply their trade this year from Lake Alice to several different locations on the Oak.
Perch seems to be the most prominent fish being taken thru the ice although an occasional steelhead has been reported.
