Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday March 18, 2015.
The warming trend of the last week has done its job of freeing up some of our tributary waters within Orleans County.
Oak Orchard has open water to well north of the Archer's Club with high and stained water.
Johnson Creek has open water from the Lyndonville Dam for quite some distance but the creek is blown out with muddy water.
Marsh creek is still pretty well frozen.
Sandy Creek has open water but is very high and muddy.
With cooling temperatures the snow melt should slow down but then rain and snow is in the forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Still there are those hardy fishermen that are catching both steelhead and brown trout on the Oak with fresh fish arriving daily.
Although ice fishing season is all but over there were some people doing quite well on Rock bass around the Kenyonville Bridge on Lake Alice.
Tournament talk is starting to fill the air as we quickly approach the lake fishing season, but for some that cannot get here quick enough.
With cabin fever running rampant, it's a great time to re-spool those reels with fresh line, sharpen the hooks on all those lures and check your safety equipment to insure that it is up to date.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
