Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Wednesday April 15, 2015.
The warmer weather of the past several days has brought the water temperatures of the tributaries within Orleans County to more reasonable levels.
Although conditions are good to very good on the tributaries, fishing pressure is extremely light.
Those who are fishing are having good catches of both spawned and fresh steelhead.
As the tributary fishing slowly ebbs, Lake Ontario comes alive with some great springtime fishing.
Brown trout, Lake trout, Coho salmon, Chinook salmon and even an occasional Atlantic salmon are being taken in the waters off Orleans County.
This is the time of year when even those who are fishing from the jetties and shore can also do well on most of these species.
On Lake Alice Bullhead, Crappies and Bass seem to be the main catches even with the waters of the lake still being slightly dirty.
Please remember that Bass season doesn't open until the third Saturday in June so for now it's catch and release.
With less than three weeks to go until the opening of the Spring LOC Derby, it's time to make those last minute plans so you don't get left out.
From Point breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
