Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday July 29, 2015.
Warm temperatures and westerly winds should keep improving fishing conditions on Lake Ontario over the next week.
Water temperatures are also on the rise which means that the different fish species should start breaking out into their preferred temperature zones.
Reports today have the surface temperature in the 70s and in the low 50s at 60 feet.
The story is that when you find bait there are usually fish on it that are active.
Fish are being taken all the way down and into the 100 foot plus range.
Some reports have a good mixed bag of fish species being taken while others report mostly Chinooks making up their catch.
Right now the 260 to 300 feet of water range seems to be where the best action is.
The most consistent thing that I have heard is that silver/green pattern combinations seem to be doing fairly well in both spoons and also in flasher/fly set ups.
August in Orleans County seems to be Derby month with the Orleans Rotary Derby August 1st to the 16th, the 3rd leg of the King of the Oak on August 15th, the Fish Odyssey August 22nd to the 30th and the LOC Fall Derby August 21st to September 7th.
In the Summer LOC Derby Orleans County had some of the top fish weighed in and took some great cash prizes.
On the inland waters of Orleans County, the warm temperatures are pushing the fish into deeper waters and heavily shaded areas.
Catches are dropping off a bit while fishermen readjust to the warmer weather conditions, but should pick up again when those adjustments are made.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
