Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report

Today is Wednesday August 26, 2015.
The cooler fall like temperatures of the past several days should start signaling fish that spawning time is quickly approaching.
Weather should remain on the cool side for the next few days and then warm up for the weekend.
In the Fall LOC Derby our area seems to be doing very well in the Steelhead category and fair in the other species.
Remember that the Fall LOC Derby runs until September 7th and the Grand Prize is $25,000.00 so join up and cash in.
Also a reminder that this year's Fish Odyssey runs thru August 30th and is always a great derby for both the young and the young at heart alike.
On Lake Ontario some East winds have kept the fishing picture fairly scattered yet warm water has remained on the inside waters.
Even with that very few mature salmon have found their way to those waters.
One report has all of the action on those inside waters taken with meat rigs.
Farther on out the 24 to 25 lines fishing has been just OK with more fish and bait fish in the 28 to 30 line area.
Copper rigs and downriggers with flasher/fly combinations seem to be producing the majority of catches.
On the inland waters of Orleans County things should start picking up on the lower stretches of the Oak with spawning season not too far off.
On Lake Alice some Bluegill are still being taken around the Waterport Bridge for those who are willing to work for them.
Great catches of Smallmouth bass are being reported on Lake Alice and the Erie Canal.
From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the World fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
